BakPac is making another major investment in flexible packaging production with the purchase of two new TOTANI ST-30 automatic spout inserters from Japan.

The new machines will strengthen BakPac’s growing custom printed spouted pouch capabilities and support increasing demand from brands looking for practical, high-quality and refill-ready packaging.

Before the machines could begin their journey to the UK, they first had to pass their Factory Acceptance Test, better known as a FAT.

This is the final sign-off stage before machinery is packed, shipped and prepared for installation.

So, naturally, we sent a very willing inspection team to Japan.
Steve Baker, Managing Director, Harry Baker, Phil Smith, Operations Manager, and Harvey Dailly, BakPac Supervisor, all travelled to TOTANI to see the machines in action. The verdict? They were seriously impressed.

The two automatic spout inserters have now passed their FAT, been packed up and shipped by sea. Installation is planned for this summer, and the BakPac team is already excited to get them running.

Why this investment matters for spouted pouch production

The arrival of the two new TOTANI automatic spout inserters will allow us to increase capacity while maintaining the same high standards for quality, consistency and turnaround times — whether a customer needs a smaller specialist run or higher volume production.

The TOTANI ST-30 is designed for high-speed spout insertion and precise spout positioning, supporting strong, consistent seals and efficient production. For BakPac, that means more flexibility, more capacity and even greater confidence when producing spouted pouches at scale.

The machines also offer the ability to insert top spouts or corner spouts, giving customers more choice depending on their product, filling requirements and end-user experience.

Just as importantly, our MONO recyclable material converts beautifully on the new spout inserters, opening up even more opportunities for brands looking for recyclable spouted pouch packaging. A productive trip with a few Japanese highlights

Of course, the trip to Japan was not all machinery testing and technical checks.

While there, the team also managed to enjoy some of the country’s unforgettable experiences — travelling on the Bullet Train, visiting temples, watching sumo wrestling and sampling some exceptional, if occasionally unusual, cuisine.

But the main purpose of the visit was to see the new machines running, confirm they met expectations and bring that excitement back to the UK.

Mission accomplished.

The FAT has been passed, the machines are on the water, and the BakPac team is getting ready for a very exciting summer of installations.
