HP Indigo 200K Event
On the 8th and 9th of October BakPac had the honour of hosting the HP Indigo 200K event, welcoming guests from all over the world to our facilities. This event served as a reference site visit for HP’s customers and label manufacturers exploring the future of flexible packaging. It was an exciting opportunity for us to showcase our capabilities, as well as the energy that makes Bakers and BakPac such great places to work.
Two Days, Two Audiences
The event was split into two days, each tailored to different audiences. Day one focused on current flexible packaging manufacturers learning more about the advantages of the HP Indigo 200K. On day two, we brought together label manufacturers interested in expanding into the flexible packaging market. It was a pleasure to see such a wide range of professionals come together, network, and explore the digital innovations shaping the future of their industries.
Day 1: A Deep Dive into Flexible Packaging
The first day saw guests arriving from their hotels in London, welcomed into our social space, Roy’s, for coffee and networking. Martina Corradi, HP Industrial Printing Marketing Manager for Italy & Iberia, set the stage with a warm introduction. Our MD Steve Baker followed by sharing the BakPac story – giving our guests an inside look into our journey as a growing business.
Tours and Talks
Guests were then split into two groups, group A attended talks on key topics. These included web-to-print opportunities presented by Infigo, trends in the flexible packaging market, and the HP Indigo 200K’s competitive advantages. Meanwhile, Group B toured our Baker Labels facility, led by Tom Baker, and watched a live demo of the HP Indigo 200K. BakPac Digital Team Lead Gheorghe Nita and HP’s Martin Rojas guided them through the production process.
Following this, James Brennan from A B Graphic delivered a demo of the Enprom ABG laminator and the Digicon 3000. Afterward, the groups swapped tours and talks, and everyone enjoyed a networking lunch with industry peers.
In the afternoon, Josep Isart, HP Indigo EMEA Flexible Packaging Business Manager, lead a panel discussion featuring our own Harry Baker and Sealed Air’s Samantha Murphy. The panel offered valuable insights into the future of the flexible packaging.
Infigo had a stand where guests could experience their interactive technology, transforming guest photos into personalised superhero designs. This was a hit at Drupa earlier in the year, so they brought the same excitement to Bakers. These custom designs were printed live on the HP Indigo 200K and will be turned into pouches in Barcelona. It was a very cool and unique addition to the event.
The superhero theme resonated particularly well with the BakPac team. You might have recognised them from our “Meet the Team” video, which captures a similar fun, superhero vibe of BakPacs’s very own Guardians of the Galaxy.
Ending Day 1
We concluded the day with an engaging talk from Tom Lester, owner of Reverend Hubert. True to his slightly eccentric personality, Tom shared his wild journey and the success of his business. Guests enjoyed tasting his infamous gin liqueur, making it the perfect way to wrap up a day full of insights.
Day 2: Spotlight on Labels-to-Pouches Conversion
The second day welcomed label manufacturers eager to explore the shift into flexible packaging. With fewer delays (thanks to much smoother traffic – unlike day one!), we started promptly. Steve Baker once again introduced BakPac before guests were split into tours and presentations.
The day included another lively panel discussion, featuring Steve Baker, Frank Plechschmidt (CEO of Labelisten), and Kjetil Hovland (CEO of Digital Etikett). The panel focused on the transition from labels to pouches, offering invaluable advice for those considering this exciting shift in their business.
It was a fantastic two days, filled with collaboration, learning, and the exchange of ideas. We were honoured to host such influential figures from the industry. The feedback we received on our facilities, team, and overall atmosphere was overwhelmingly positive.
Reflecting on the Success of the Event
The HP Open House was truly special, not just because of the opportunity to showcase our technology, but also because it allowed us to highlight the incredible culture at Bakers and BakPac. Many guests commented on the friendliness, professionalism, and expertise of our team. We pride ourselves on being more than just a workplace – we’re a community of passionate people who love what we do, and it was fantastic to see that energy resonate with our visitors.
We’re grateful to HP for trusting us to host this event, and to everyone who attended. It was great to showcase our journey, our innovations, and the people who make it all possible. We look forward to building on the excitement of the event as we move into the future of flexible packaging and beyond.
